Robert D. 'Uncle Bob' Crowe

Robert D. “Uncle Bob” Crowe of Pine Island entered into rest on Monday, April 10, 2017. He was 75 years old.
The son of William D. and Dorothy A. Crowe, he was born Feb. 28, 1942. in Paterson, N.J.
He is a veteran of the United States Navy and served from March 1962 to June 1966 as a ballistic missileman. He served on the USS Perry, a cruiser out of Mayport, Florida.
He enjoyed more than 45 years being a truck driver. He proudly finished his career driving 16 years for Brian and Paul Gurda from Gurda Transportation.
He was a proud member of the Polish Legion of American Veteran’s Post 16.
He is survived by his son William B. Crowe and wife Teri residing in Greenfield Center; daughter Christina Crowe and fiancé Scott Truex, residing in Middletown. He was a loving grandfather to 10 beautiful grandchildren. A brother to Richard Crowe and his wife Sallie of Wanaque, N.J.; nieces Rebecca Lyczak and her husband Matt of Collegeville, Pa., and Rachael Crowe of Brooklyn.
He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 14, at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route# 1, Pine Island, with a funeral service held 4 p.m.
Immediately after the funeral service, the family invites everyone to the PLAV Post 16, 16 Legion, Pine Island.
Cremation will be held privately.
Burial of ashes will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19 at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the T.S. Purta Funeral Home.
