Richard Monks of Warwick passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at Schervier Pavilion. He was 87 years old.
Born in Paterson, N.J., on April 2. 1931, he was the son of William Bond and Minnie Monks.
Dick was the produce manager at the ACME Supermarket in Middletown.
He was a member of the Golden Floridians Senior Club in the Village of Florida. He was a Master Corny Joke teller and an expert horseshoe player. He was also a great fan of the New York Mets and Giants.
Richard is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn Monks; his son Richard of Middletown; daughter Karen Bartash and her husband Peter of Wallkill; daughter Diane Monks and her companion David Blanton of Amelia, Ohio; sister Jeanette Fritz of Sparta, N.J.; and grandchildren Peter William Bartash and his wife Talia of Boston, Mass, and Katelyn S. Bartash of Lynn, Mass.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 28 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, with a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
