Richard J. Czubak, a self-employed mechanic, fabricator, former onion farmer and co-owner of South Main Garage, entered into rest on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at home in the Village of Florida. He was 76.
The son of John and Mary Heter Czubak, he was born Oct. 8, 1940, in Florida, N.Y.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church and its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Florida Hunting Club.
He also served as a trustee for the Village of Florida.
He was a loving and generous husband and friend to many. He was a family man, who loved his children, and had a special place in his heart for his grandsons, Zachary who is stationed in Alaska with the U.S. Air Force, and Dylan who is pursuing his degree in engineering, for whom he was extremely proud of.
He loved to fish and cook on the weekends. He was a master at fabricating and could fix anything mechanical for all of his farmer friends.
He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Patricia Shanley Czubak; daughter Deborah Czubak; son Richard E. Czubak; grandsons, Zachary and Dylan Czubak; sister Lorraine DeLade; brother-in-law Ronald Shanley and his wife Janine; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by daughter-in-law Linda Kulak-Czubak; brothers John, Clement and Eugene Czubak; sisters Mary Gerczak, Dory Bertero and Christine Wesley; and his beloved cats, Pumpkin and Charlie.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m., at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, at St. Joseph Church, 20 Glenmere Ave., Florida.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 or to the charity of one’s choice.
