Peter R. Dross Jr.

Peter R. Dross Jr. of Florida, N.Y., a retired programmer analyst/security receiver for Big V Supermarkets, Florida, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at home. He was 73.
The son of Peter R. Dross Sr. and Adrianna Van Der Stad Dross, he was born June 10, 1944, in Paterson, N.J.
He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a former member of the Hoffman Lodge #412 Free & Accepted Masons, Middletown, Florida Seward Seniors, past commander of the Florida American Legion Post 1250 and past member and former treasurer of the Florida Fire Department.
Pete enjoyed his family picnics, horseshoes, vacationing at Lake George and North Carolina, time with his grandkids, softball, bowling, playing cards and a little Scotch on the side.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Diane Wood Dross; son Richard Dross; son David Dross and wife Kristen; grandchildren: Leanne, Savannah and Derek; mother-in-law Leonore Wood; brothers and sisters-in-law Alan and Diane Wood; Stephen and Deb Wood; Jeffrey and Wanda Wood; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida. Legion services will be held at 7 p.m.
Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, at the funeral home.
There will be a private cremation and burial in the Florida Cemetery at a later date.
