Peter A. Maceda, a resident of Greenwood Lake, NY, passed away on October 22, 2023, at home. He was 88. The son of the late John Maceda and Lily Borthwick Maceda, Peter was born on January 18, 1935, in Brooklyn, NY.
“Papa Pete” as he was known to all worked for Local 8 for over 40 years and Local 137 for 18 years. In 1962 Pete moved to the Greenwood Lake community. Greenwood Lake was very important to him, and he had much affection for the town.
Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan Patrice Maceda, as well as his siblings John Maceda, Margaret Maceda, Anne Fortier, and Monica Belber. He is survived by his daughter Bonnie J. Cavaleri and her husband Timothy of Dolgeville, NY, and son John R. Maceda and his wife Sharon of Greenwood Lake, NY; his granddaughters, Victoria P. Maceda, Nicole L Murray, Jessica J Maceda, and Hailee Maceda; and siblings, Julia Willebrand, Daniel Maceda, Andrew Maceda and his wife Carolyn, James Maceda and his wife Shelly, and Mary Keymer.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Warwick Center-Mulder Chapel, 62 Warwick Center Road, Warwick, NY 10990. Burial will take place privately and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
