Pauline (Pasqualina) Mondello, a resident of Warwick for almost 62 years, passed away on October 18, 2021 at Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice in Newton, NJ. She was 86 years old.

Born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, she was the youngest of ten children born to the late Antonino and Francesca (Arena) Burzumato.

Pauline came to Middletown, N.Y., at the age of 19, and married the late Carmelo (Charles) Mondello on April 29, 1956. Charles passed away in 2007.

Pauline and Charles were the owners of Mondello’s Deli in Warwick, NY. Many will fondly remember all of her homemade meatballs, sausage and specialty sandwiches. Her family will always remember gatherings and having Mom’s homemade lasagna. Her specialty was her Italian cookies that everyone loved. Mom loved to sew many clothes and do alterations for people. Nana was very special to Michelle and they had a very special bond and shared many memories.

She was a parishioner at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in Warwick.

Pauline is survived by her two daughters, Marie Nick of Warwick And Sharlene Bovich and her husband Steven of Campbell Hall, NY; one granddaughter, Michelle Nick and her fiance’ Bill Bundenthal of Warwick; two nephews, Joseph Mondello of Warwick, NY and Antonino Mondello and his wife Lainie of Westtown, NY; one great-niece, Leslie Mondello Boggatta and her husband Gerry and several nieces and nephews in Italy. In addition to her husband Charles, she was predeceased by nine sisters and one brother.

The family would like to thank all of those at St. Anthony Community Hospital and Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice for the wonderful care provided for our mother, as well as Dr. Mayank Shah for the years of quality care for Mom.
