Patrick E. Mythen of Florida, N.Y., died peacefully at home on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017. He was 86.
The son of Patrick and Bertha Gilroy Mythen, he was born July 24, 1931, in New York City.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Florida, N.Y., and the Knights of Columbus, Old Bridge, N.J. Dad worked most of his career as a printer, where he worked for the Times Herald-Record and Goshen Litho.
Dad was a great family man and amazing grandfather and will be missed by all. He was truly a man of great strength and courage, undoubtedly a leader.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Miloszewski Mythen; son Edward Mythen and his wife Pamela; daughter Rita Megliola and her husband Michael; daughter Loretta Stopa and her husband Gary; daughter Suzanne Lepski and her husband Edward; daughter Andrea Varano and her husband Antonio; daughter Kathleen Smith and her husband Dr. Mark Smith; son Patrick Mythen and his wife Patricia; 15 grandchildren: Edward, John, Thomas and James Mythen; Max Megliola; Matthew, Jordan and Kendall Stopa; Jillian, Emily and Elizabeth Lepski; Kristen, Holly, Blake and Haley Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers William, Robert, John, Frank and Thomas Mythen and his sisters, Sister Marion Regina “Rita” Mythen and Regina McCarthy.
There will be no public visitation.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, at St. Joseph Church, 20 Glenmere Ave., Florida, N.Y.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the Home Care professionals whom he loved and included as his extended family particularly Emelia, Philomena, Sarah, Mabel and Antoinette. They would also like to give thanks to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan County.
