Nick Mlinscek

    Nicholas L. Mlinscek of Warwick passed away at home on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013. He was 89 years old.

    Born June 11, 1923, in the Bronx, he was the son of Hilda and Julius Mlinscek.

    He is survived by his beloved wife, Victoria, at home; son Jeffrey Mlinscek and his wife Monica of Warwick; his daughters Eileen Warren of Maybrook and Patricia Mlinscek and her companion John Lanzano of Warwick; seven grandchildren: Heather Decker, Matthew Mlinscek, Sean Mlinscek, Christopher Warren, Steven Warren, Justin Warren and Jamie Warren; three great-grandchildren: Violet Decker, Elijah Warren and Samuel Warren. He will also be dearly missed by his best friend, Ralph. He was predeceased by his younger brother, John.

    Nick served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the South Pacific during World War II.

    After the war, Nick joined the New York City Police Department and retired in 1970, after which Nick and Vicky opened the Sears Catalog Store in Warwick, retiring in 1990.

    Nick was a member of the VFW Post #4662, Warwick, as well as the American Legion Post 214, Warwick. He also volunteered at St. Anthony Community Hospital for more than 20 years.

    There will be no visitation. Burial of his cremated remains will take place in the future at Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.
