Milton Arthur Lain III of Westtown, a retired dairy farmer and lifelong resident of the area, entered into rest on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at home with his family by his side He was 88.

The son of the Milton Arthur Lain Jr. and Sara Taylor Lain, he was born April 27, 1925, in Unionville.

He graduated from Friends Academy in Locust Valley on Long Island and attended Tusculum College in Greenville, Tenn.

Art was a very active and faithful member of the Minisink Kiwanis Club and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Westtown. He was a former member of the Minisink Valley School Board, Orange County Land Trust, Orange County Agriculture & Farmland Protection Board, a delegate of the Orange County Farm Bureau and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons # 365, in Goshen.

He and his wife Phyllis volunteered for many years delivering for Meals on Wheels of Orange County.

Art lived his life in accordance with his principles, contributing in so many ways to the life and betterment of his community. He was the “Ticket King,” taking great pleasure in raising money for the causes he valued.

He was a people person, a master storyteller and a long-suffering Mets and Jets fan. He especially looked forward to the Lain Family reunions held every five years at Kezialain Farm.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Phyllis Johnson Lain at home; six children, Martha Ann Lain of Westtown, Deborah Susan Lain of Westtown, Milton Arthur Lain IV of Westtown, Stephen Taylor Lain of Pismo Beach, Calif., Ty William Lain of Westtown and Jonathan Mark Lain of Berkeley, Calif.; eight grandchildren: Keziah Lain Collier, Phoebe Lain, Sara Lain, Jeneviere Lain, Milton Arthur Lain V, Hannah Miller, John Miller and Gabriela Daugherty; two great granddaughters: Charlotte and Clara; four brothers: David, Lester, Charles and Terry Lain. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sister Martha Lain and four brothers: Frank, Richard, Lewis and Alden Lain.

Funeral services were held Oct. 21 at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Westtown; the Pastor Bob Keene officiated.

Burial was in Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, NY.
