Mary McAliney
Mary McAliney of Warwick (formerly of Bayside) passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at St. Anthony Community Hospital. She was 86 years old.
Born in Dernacross, County Longford, Ireland, on Dec. 17, 1925, she was the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth (McGuire) Lynch.
She was married in 1953 to Thomas McAliney (1999).
Mary grew up on a farm in Ireland and was very proud of her Irish heritage and she enjoyed Irish music.
A loving mother and homemaker, she was a former waitress in Schraffs on 5th Avenue in New York City, She would later become a member of St. Stephens R.C. Church.
She is survived by her six children: Mary Beth Delaney and her husband James of Warwick, Patrick McAliney and his wife Margaret of Warwick, Kathleen McCormick and her husband Christopher of Warwick, Eileen Ryan and her husband John of Winter Springs, Fla., Michael T. McAliney and his wife Pat of Massapequa and Joan Connolly and her husband Hugh of Warwick; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and her brother Michael Lynch and his wife Annie of Longford, Ireland.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Peter and John.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, June 3, from 5-9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Stephens R.C. Church, followed by interment in St. Stephens Cemetery.
