Mary F. Galante

Mary F. Galante passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at home. She was 96 years old and had been a resident of Greenwood Lake for 50 years.

Born April 17, 1917, in Queens, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Hessner) Schmitt.

She was the widow of Nicholas Galante.

Mrs. Galante retired as a claims processor with Phillips Insurance Agency in Greenwood Lake. She was a longtime and active member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood Lake.

Her family’s statement reads: “Mary loved her family and they were the center of her life.”

She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Galante of Greenwood Lake; a son-in-law, Walter Carroll of Greenwood Lake; three grandchildren: Lorraine Mitchell of Greenwood Lake, Nicole Mea and her husband Louis of Hewitt, N.J., and Larry Carroll and his wife Joan of Blandon, Pa.; three great-grandchildren: Jacqueline Carroll, Nicholas Carroll and Raquel Mea.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Marilyn Carroll, and a son, Ronald Galante.

Funeral services were held Oct. 14 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment followed in Warwick Cemetery.
