Mary E. Verbert

Mary E. Verbert passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Schervier Pavilion in Warwick. She was 83 years old and was a lifelong resident of Warwick.
Born Feb. 7, 1930 in Goshen, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary (Carr) O’Malley.
She was married to Charles (Bussie) Verbert ,who proceeded her in death in 1997.
Mary was a senior stenographer with Mid-Orange Correctional Facility in Warwick. She was a member of St. Stephen’s R.C. Church in Warwick and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She also was a member and served as president of the Florida and Pine Island Senior Citizens groups.
Her family’s statement reads: “Mom was a huge Yankee fan and avid gardener. Most of all, she was a loving mother and grandmother. She he will be missed by all who know and loved her.”
She is survived by her sons Michael Verbert of Hackensack, N.J., and Thomas J. Verbert and his wife Susan of Florida, NY; her daughter Mary Alice Cahill and her husband Edward of Sugar Loaf; and by her five grandchildren: Sara, Allison and Kamryn Cahill and Claire and Thomas Verbert.
Visitation will be on Friday, Sept. 20, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Stephen’s R.C. Church, followed by interment in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
