It is with deep sadness that the family of announces that he passed away unexpectedly at home in Carmel, N.Y., on March 31, 2025. He was 40 years old.
Mark was born in Suffern, N.Y., on Sept. 17, 1984, to Mark Callaghan Sr. and Victoria Callaghan, née Tietjen.
He was a 2002 graduateof Monroe-Woodbury Senior High School and attended Rockland Community College.
Mark was a member of Mount Carmel Bible Church, where he was baptized, worshipped and volunteered in service to God and the Carmel community.
Mark is survived by his parents of Milford, P,a.; his sisters Michaela Caruso, née Callaghan, of Highland Mills, and Kathleen Callaghan of Milford, Pa.; , his grandmother Mary M. Tietjen of Chester, N.Y.; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a loving uncle to Alaina and Miles Caruso.
Mark was predeceased by his grandfathers William Tietjen and John V. Callaghan Sr., his grandmother Margaret S. Callaghan and his beloved cousin Elizabeth York.
Mark was also loved by many friends and acquaintances in and around his home in Carmel.
To know Mark was to know his sweet, kind and gentle soul. He bravely faced several health challenges over the years, but never stopped striving for a full life, finding fellowship and grace in his family, church and community.
He loved art, music, skateboarding, sports and the outdoors. He had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious smile.
Mark had an enormous heart filled with love and empathy.
A private cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for his immediate family at a date to be determined in May.
