Marilyn A. Higgins

Marilyn A. Higgins of Greenwood Lake, a former bookkeeper and tax preparer in Elmhurst, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at home. She was 75.

The daughter of James and Dorothy Reinhardt Rone, she was born April 10, 1937, in Elmhurst.

Marilyn was the widow of James L. Higgins Jr.

She was a longtime member of Ascension Parish in Elmhurst, Queens, and was currently a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter Lyn Tobin and her husband Joseph of Greenwood Lake; her grandchildren: James, Michael, Kathleen, Joseph and Mary. She is further survived by her brother Edward Rone and his wife Marcia; her sister-in-law Marion Higgins; her brother-in-law Martin Higgins and his wife Esther; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband, she was predeceased by her loving son James L. Higgins III, her sister Ruth Whitehouse and her brother James Rone.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 12, at Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake.

Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.

Arrangements were handled by Strong-Basile Funeral Home in Greenwood Lake.
