Marie C. Farkas
Marie C. Farkas died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at her son’s home in Warwick. She was 96.
Born in Bayonne, N.J., she grew up in Garwood, N.J., and lived in Scotch Plains, N.J., for many years with her family before moving to Warwick.
Mrs. Farkas worked for Whitestone in Piscataway, N.J. She enjoyed cooking, baking, doing crafts, bowling and line-dancing.
She was also a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Garwood and a member of the Scotch Plains Golden Ages Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, William, who died in 1998; her brothers Alfred “Bud” DeFreitas and Horace DeFreitas and her sister, Doris Creater.
She is survived by her sons William and his wife, Kearny, and Gary and is wife, Sue; and her granddaughter, Kayte.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Memorial Funeral Home in Fanwood, N.J. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery.
