Margaret ‘Peggy’ Hogan

Margaret “Peggy” Hogan of Greenwood Lake, and formerly of Queens, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020. She was 73 years old.

Born in Gortmore, County Mayo, Ireland, on Dec. 27, 1946, she was one of nine children of Dan Prendergast and Mary Derrig. She came to the United States in 1967 and married Patrick Hogan in 1968.

Peggy was an extremely friendly and outgoing person who made friends wherever she went. She loved the outdoors and was an avid walker and dancer, especially to jive. She also loved gardening.

Peggy was a member of the Catholic Daughters with Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Karen Gormley and her husband Barry of Greenwood Lake; son Michael Hogan and his wife Maria of Massapequa; siblings: Dan Prendergast of County Limerick, Ireland, Pat Prendergast of Queens, Willie Prendergast of County Mayo, Ireland, Mary Jennings of Williston Park, Annie Garvin of County Mayo, Ireland, Sarah Dooley of Surrey, England, and Kathleen Lydon of County Mayo, Ireland; five grandchildren: Riley, Marcus and Matthew Hogan and Finn and Niamh Gormley.

She was predeceased by her husband and a sister, Bridie Prendergast.

Visitation was held Oct. 21 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Oct. 22 at Holy Rosary Church, 41 Windermere Ave., Greenwood Lake.

Burial in Warwick Cemetery followed the mass.
