Margaret M. “Peggy” McLaughlin, a longtime resident of Orange County, passed away at home on Monday, May 9, 2016, after a short illness. She was 85.
Peggy was born March 4, 1931, in Manhattan to Patrick Gough and Margaret O'Sullivan.
She was raised in Highbridge, attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1948.
After graduation, Peggy began her career in the telephone industry as a business service representative with N.Y. Telephone Company and continued subsequently with Highland Telephone, Rochester Telephone and Frontier Communications in Monroe, a career which lasted for more than 30 years.
Her primary vocation, however, was the raising, nurturing and supporting of her husband, Pat, and their five children.
She is survived by her husband Patrick McLaughlin;their children: Stephen (Patty) of Haymarket, Va., Margaret (Doug) of Greenville, Edward (Jill) of Greenville, Bryan (Jackie) of Fogelsville, Pa., and Mark (Kathy) of Niskayuna; her 13 beloved grandchildren: Kelly Jeanne, Amy Elizabeth, Meghan Anne, Jill Catherine, Kristen Rose, Erin Elizabeth, Brigit Shioban, Michael Patrick, Colleen Margaret, Matthew Ryan, Kevin Francis, Patrick John and Christopher John; four great-grandchildren; and her sisters Elizabeth Nash and Dorothy Doughty.
She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Frances Waters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 14 at Holy Cross R. C. Church in South Centerville.
