Leon Paffenroth

Leon Warren Paffenroth of Pine Island passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 67 years old.

Born March 26, 1945, in Warwick, he was one of ten children of John and Sophie (Daubert) Paffenroth.

He was married to Carol (Hlavsa) Paffenroth.

Leon served with the U. S. Army in Vietnam from 1967-1973. He worked for 36 years as a lineman with Frontier Communications in Monroe and was recently working for Warwick Valley Central Schools as a part-time grounds keeper.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He also was a longtime member of the Amity Fire Department

Leon is survived by his wife, Carol; a sister, Katherine Dembeck of Amity; a brother, Roland Paffenroth of Westtown; many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Nelson Paffenroth, Ralph Paffenroth, Dora Ochs, Eleanor Schmick, Bailey Paffenroth, Harvey Paffenroth and Betty Jane Paffenroth, and his loving dog, Candy.

Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 30, from 1 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 70 Little York Road, Pine Island, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
