Julia T. Sikorski of Florida, N.Y., entered into eternal rest on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She ws 89.
The daughter of Frank J. Fish and Mary G. Lempka Fish, she was born on April 27, 1928, in Florida, N.Y.
She was married to the late Edmund J. Sikorski on Sept. 7, 1952.
She was a graduate of S.S. Seward Institute Class of 1946 and from Jersey City Medical Center as an X-Ray/Lab Technician.
She then went on to work at St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick for several years.
While raising her family, Julia worked for 30 years at Orange County Home and Infirmary (presently The Valley View Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care) as a nursing assistant and then as an activity aide until she retired in 1988.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church and its Living Rosary Society and a member of the choir. She was also part of the St. Joseph Church Bicentennial Committee.
She was very proud of her Polish Heritage and was a member of the Hudson Valley Polonaise Society where she enjoyed teaching the Polish language to many.
Survivors include her children: Susan M. Zanetti and husband Joseph of The Villages, Fla.; Elaine Colarieti of Goshen; Edmund Sikorski at home; Maryann Casey and husband James of White Plains; Gail Bandler and husband John of Manhattan; 11 grandchildren: Justin, Ryan and Brendan Zanetti, Dana Davila, Allyson Tully and Anthony Colarieti, Ryan, Daniel and Gavin Casey, Evan and Julia Bandler; five great grandchildren: Natalie, Joseph and Camila Davila; Anabelle and Dominic Tully; sister Eleanor Faliski and husband Charles of Florida, N.Y.; brother-in-law Sylvester “Tony” Nowak of Colorado Springs, Co. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Frances Niemcewicz and Mary M. Nowak; brother Frank J. Fish Jr.; and grandson, Salvatore Colarieti.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 10, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida.
Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at St. Joseph Church, Florida.
Julia will be interred in the Sikorski family plot in St. Joseph Cemetery.
