Josephine R. Vitanza

    Josephine R. Vitanza of Warwick passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at St. Anthony Community Hospital. She was 87 years old and had been a resident of the area for 29 years.

    The daughter of Damiano and Emmanuella Durante Maddalena, she was born Jan. 28, 1926, in the Bronx.

    Josephine was the widow of Daniel Vitanza. She was a member of the Warwick Senior Citizens.

    Survivors include her two daughters: Vera DiMeglio and her husband Gerry of Monroe and Barbara Vitanza Stober and her husband Philip of New York City; three sons: Joseph Vitanza and his wife Noelle of Hartford, Conn., Daniel Vitanza and his wife Liz of Salinas, California, and Michael Vitanza and his wife Jackie of New York City; sisters Millie Grosso of Northport, Fla., Vera Bianco of Milford, Pa., and Emma Fico of Elmsford; her brother, Bano Maddalena of Somers; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    She was predeceased by her sister, Tina DeCristofaro.

    A funeral Mass was celebrated July 1 at St. Anastasia Parish Church in Harriman. Interment followed in St. Raymond’s Cemetery in the Bronx.
