Josephine Kiely
Josephine Kiely, a resident of the Village of Florida and former longtime resident of Woodside in Queens, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Schervier Pavilion in Warwick. She was 98 years old.
Daughter of Rosario and Carmela Santora Piemonte, she was born March 26, 1915, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the widow of Daniel Joseph Kiely.
Josephine was a retired escort monitor with Union Local #1181, Queens, and was a former employee of Bulova Watch Co. in Jackson Heights.
She was an honorary member of the Monroe Lions Club, a former member of the Rosary Alter Society and Senior Citizens of St. Sebastian of Woodside, and was a former member of the Kiwanis Club and N.Y.C. Seniors of Woodside.
Survivors include her son Richard D. Kiely and his wife Agnes of Florida, NY; her daughter Kathleen O’Neill and her husband John of New York City, her brother Robert Piemonte of New York City; her sisters Adele Grossi of Medford and Vinnie DiTrapani of Henderson, Nevada; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Josephine was predeceased by her brothers Vic, Charlie and Joseph, her sisters Fay, Francis, Vera and Angie and her grandson Richard M. O’Neill.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 16 at Sacred Heart Church in Monroe. Interment followed in Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn.
