Joseph C. Patterson of Florida, N.Y., entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 23, 2018. He was 32 years old.
"The best kind of people are the ones that come into your life, and make you see the sun where you once saw clouds. The people that believe in you so much, you start to believe in you too. The people that love you, simply for being you. The once in a lifetime kind of people."
Joseph was a graduate of S.S. Seward class of 2004. He continued his education at Divers Academy International in Erial, N.J., where he received his Commercial Diving Certification.
He was in the Dockbuilders and Timberman Local 1556 N.Y./N.J. Union.
Joseph was an avid outdoorsman. He loved skiing, camping, hiking, fishing, just living every part of his life to the fullest. His smile lit up the room and he was a great friend to all that knew him. The world was a better place with him in it, even if it was for just a short time, he would do anything for anyone in need.
Joseph is survived by the love of his life, his fiancée, Julianna D'Orazio, and their children Jasper and Missy of Nyack and her family; his loving parents Patricia and Michael Patterson of Florida, N.Y.; his sister Jessica and "brother" Stephen Solcany of Monroe; his beautiful nieces Sophia and Audrianna, nephew Stephen Solcany of Monroe; his maternal grandmother Carol Grieco of Brick, N.J.
He was predeceased by his brother Michael J. Patterson; by his maternal grandfather Salvatore "Poppy" Grieco, and Uncle Salvatore Grieco; also paternal grandmother Martha Tenney.
He is also survived by his aunts and uncles Gail Apicella of Brick, N.J., Barbara Grieco of Florida, N.Y., Stephen and Kim Grieco of Dallas, Texas, Carol and John Geraghty of Edison, N.J., Tony and Liz Petrone of Pennsylvania; cousins Christian, Michael, Sharon, Amy, Rob, Lauren, Brian, Michael, Marie, Salvatore, Brittany, Paul, Grace, Tyler, John Patrick, Kier and Jennifer; many other cousins, aunts and uncles; as well as many friends from all walks of his life.
Joseph will be forever missed but never forgotten. He will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Funeral Mass was held June 28 at St. Joseph's Church in Florida.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
