Joseph A. DeRario
Joseph A. DeRario of Maybrook passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh. He was 82 years old.
The son of Saverio and Adeline D’Amico DeRario, he was born Sept. 1, 1936, in New York City.
Joseph was a retired firefighter with the F.D.N.Y. Ladder 47 for 30 years, in the Bronx and was a member of Orange County Retired Firefighters Association of the F.D.N.Y.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and served the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves for 27 years.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joan Del Giudice DeRario at home; his daughter Adeline Savino and her husband Richard of Warwick; his stepdaughters: Stacey Muller and her husband Ken of Maybrook, Christine Gaboy and her husband Matt of Maybrook, Heather Wade and her husband Luke of Goshen and Jodi Clouse and her husband Adam of Otisville; his grandchildren: Dominick and Anthony Savino, and April Ann Wade.
Joseph was predeceased by his first wife, Anita DeRario, his brother Liborio and sister Rose DeRario.
Visitation was held Oct. 11 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home in Monroe.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 12 at Sacred Heart Church in Monroe.
Interment followed in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorial donations to The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
