John M. Slesinski

    John M. Slesinski of Florida, N.Y., entered into rest on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at home. He was 81.
    The son of John and Elizabeth Michalowski Slesinski, he was born April 17, 1931, in Pine Island.
    John was a retired self-employed carpenter, as well as a retired carpenter maintenance worker for St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick.
    He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church,where he served as an usher for many years, and was a member of St. Joseph’s Holy Name Society.
    John’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Alexander Fruchter and the staff at Vital Signs for the exceptional care and compassion they showed to John over the past several years.
    Survivors include his sister Gertie Rutkowski and husband Ray of Florida, N.Y.; brother-in -law Adolph Kurdyla of Middletown; nieces Cindy Zak and her husband Tom of Middletown, Darlene Fuller of Middletown, Melanie Bilancione and her husband John of Middletown, Brenda Conklin of Bloomingburg, and Donna Decker and Marie Powers of the State of Florida; nephew Adolph Kurdyla Jr. and his wife Barbara of the State of Florida; and several great nieces.
    He was pre deceased by his wife Viola and sister Adele Kurdyla.
    A funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 27 at St. Joseph’s Church in the Village of Florida.
    Burial was in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Pine Island.
    Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Joseph’s Church Restoration Fund, 14 Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY 10921.
