John Edward Lund

John Edward Lund of New York City passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Schervier Pavilion in Warwick. He was 87 years old.
Born March 19, 1926, in Englewood, N.J., he was the son of John Thorwald Lund and Fanny Asberg Karan Johnsen.
His family's statement reads:
“John’s passing is marked by a sense of loss as the last surviving member of his strong Norwegian family. He served in the Army, Navy and Merchant Marines from 1944-1957. As many who crossed the equator, he was also a member of the Ancient Order of The Deep.
"After leaving the military, he became a hairdresser, later to open his own shop, A1 John’s Wigs in Brooklyn, where he worked until 2009. He had a long list of satisfied customers and friendships including Denise Rao from Brooklyn and Gloria Tarello from Fort Lee, N.J.
"His smile and laugh will be dearly missed ... thanks for all the memories, Uncle Eddy.”
He is survived by his niece Dawn Murtagh and her husband Patrick of Warwick; his grand-nephews Sean Murtagh and his wife Christa, Brian Murtagh and his wife Barbara and their children Madison and Joseph, Dennis Murtagh, Kevin Murtagh and Micheal Murtagh; and many nieces and nephews as well.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Adele Best, Walter Lund, Evelyn Duhrkopp, Ted Lund, Lillian Gaertner, Ruth Duhrkopp and George Lund.
Private funeral arrangements were under the direction of Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Warwick.
