'Jack' Preacher
John G. “Jack” Preacher, of Shark River Hills, Neptune, N.J., died Wednesday, June 18, 2014.
He was born in Perth Amboy, grew up in Woodbridge and graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1955.
Mr. Preacher was a machinist mate in the U.S. Navy, serving on a destroyer.
He worked at National Lead in Sayreville, Hydro Labs, and Hydro Med Science in New Brunswick as a lab technician.
He then worked as a machinist for Millennium Cell until his retirement.
Jack was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Ocean Grove, N.J., served on the executive board of the Shark River Hills Homeowners Association and was an avid car enthusiast, who enjoyed working on cars.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna Preacher.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Dolores Preacher; his son David Preacher and his wife Kathy of Summit, N.J.; his daughter Beth Ibbetson and her husband Michael of Warwick; triplet grandchildren Emma, Deanna and Miranda; his brother Robert Preacher and his wife Carole of Peach Tree City, Ga.; and his godchild Dr. Erik Hanson of New Paltz.
A memorial service was held June 21 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Ocean Grove. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Paul's United Methodist Church Food Pantry 80 Embury Avenue, Ocean Grove, NJ 07756 would be appreciated.
