    Henry L. Nielsen Jr. of Jupiter Florida, and formally of Warwick, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013, at the age of 86.

    He was preceded in death by his parents Florence (Fruauf) and Henry L. Nielsen Sr. and sister Edythe Sandfort.

    He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Carol Ann LaRaia; devoted and caring son Henry III (Butch) and his wife Roseanna of Mount Dora Fla.; loving daughters Janis (John) Miller and Dee Dee (Chris) Maxwell, both of Bradenton, Fla.; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; nephews John and Peter Sandfort and niece Joan Schwartz; Carol Ann’s children: Charlene, Paul, Helena and Lynette; and her eight grandchildren.

    Henry was raised on the family farm, “Nieland Farm,” now Hickory Hill Golf Course in Warwick. He was educated at Storm King School Academy in Cornwall-on-Hudson.

    Henry formed Nielsen Construction Company Inc., serving as president.

    During his years in Warwick, Henry proudly served on several boards as director and trustee: Warwick Savings Bank, Warwick Valley Telephone Company, The Warwick Cemetery Association, Village Planning Board and Town Republican Committee.

    Henry was past president of the prestigious Golf Course Builders Association of America and past president of the Historical Society of the Town of Warwick.

    He was a member of the Warwick Reform Church, where he served on the consistory.

    Interment was in Warwick Cemetery.
