Henry 'Hank' Jankowski Sr.

Henry “Hank” Jankowski Sr. of New Hampton, a retired laborer for Local 17, entered into rest on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017. He was 97.
The son of John Jankowski and Frances Erfort Jankowski, he was born Nov. 21, 1919, in the Bronx.
He was a member of the Lost Mountain Hunting Club and a former member of the Benevolent Protection Order of the Elks # 1097 in Middletown.
Henry married Pauline Sosler on Jan. 7, 1945, in St. Joseph Church in Florida, N.Y.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who with his wife ran a small greenhouse and sold vegetables and flower plants.
After retirement, he enjoyed helping his nephew Steven Bogdanski on his farm in Pine Island.
He is survived by three sons: Henry Jankowski Jr. and his companion Bonnie Osterdahl of Fair Oaks; William Jankowski and his wife Elizabeth of Long Beach Island, N.J., formerly of Middletown; and Michael Jankowski Sr. and his wife Tammy of Otisville; six grandchildren: Joellen Hundeland and her husband Kenneth, Andrew Jankowski and his wife Denise, Jason Jankowski and his wife Maureen, Corinne Jankowski, Michael Jankowski Jr. and Kaitlyn Jankowski; &and two great grandchildren: Savanna Jankowski and Juliette Jankowski; sisters-in-law Theresa Jankowski of New Hampton and Lena Black of Little Rock, Arkansas; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Pauline Sosler Jankowski; daughter-in-law Janet Jankowski; three brothers: Steve Szymanski, Alfred Jankowski and Edward Jankowski; four sisters: Stella Helhoski, Helen Rzeczkowski, Sophie Zielenski and Florence Bogdanski.
Visitation was held Sept. 11 at T.S. Purta Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 12 at St. Joseph Church in Florida.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery.
