Helen Taranto

Helen Taranto (nee Dallas) of Warwick passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018. She was 68 years old.
Born in Astoria on June 21, 1950, she was the daughter of George and Katherine (Frangos) Dallas.
Helen was a graduate of Fort Lee, N.J., High School.
Helen worked for Liberty Travel in New Jersey.
She was one of the five women to start the New Jersey Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America.
She also served as past president of the Allendale, N.J., Newcomers Club and the Allendale Junior Women’s Club and the Warwick Valley Social Club. She was also a past member of St. Stephen’s Sodality and Altar Societies, St. Anthony Community Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and the Amity Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by her loving husband Ronald at home; daughter Jennifer Taranto-Manning and her husband Joseph of Seattle, Washington; siblings: James Dallas and wife Yonne, Peggy Styliades and husband Nick and Jeanne Sekas and husband George.
She was predeceased by her horse, Charlie Brown, whom she lovingly referred to as her “therapist.”
Visitation was held Nov. 28 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Warwick.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Stephen’s RC Church on Nov. 29.
Interment followed the mass in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, N.J.
