Helen Beatrice Ginty, loving sister and aunt, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, at the age of 81 at her home in the Bronx.
Helen was born on Feb. 9, 1937, in the Bronx, to Edward and Victoria (Schmainda) Ginty. She received a degree from Pace University and she worked for the Proskauer Rose law firm in New York City.
Helen had a passion for learning and travel. She loved to share details and treasures from her many adventures across the country and abroad. She loved to engage people of all walks of life and was a naturally generous, curious and interested person. She wanted to hear other people’s stories and share hers as well.
And while other places may have fascinated her, there was never any place more important to Helen than her neighborhood in the Bronx and the surrounding area. She could often be found shopping along McLean Avenue in Yonkers or at her beloved Rory Dolan’s for Sunday brunch.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law Larry Ronan.
She is survived by her sister Catherine, her niece Suzanne and her nephews Michael and Thomas, as well as many cousins, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, Jan. 11, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Warwick at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Answer the Call, a charity that supports the families of first responders killed in the line of duty (www.answerthecall.org).
Arrangements were made by Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Warwick.
