H. Clinton Quackenbush of Grantham, N.H., formerly a longtime resident of Warwick, passed away on Oct. 27, 2016 in New Hampshire. He was 86 years old.
Born on Nov. 22, 1929, in Warwick, he was the son of Howard and Mary (Mabee) Quackenbush.
He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Dunn Quackenbush, and later married Sylvia Decker Quackenbush of Grantham, N.H.
He was an avid, perennial bowler in the Frontier Lanes Bowling League as well as a captain and team sponsor in the Warwick Softball League for many years.
He was very active in outdoor sports, enjoying hunting, fishing, boating and skiing most of his life.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post #214 in Warwick.
He owned Quackenbush Agway & Fuel Oil Service in Warwick and was very active in the community. He was a founding member of the Warwick Rotary, served as a village trustee and on the Planning Commission and was a member of the Excelsior Fire Department.
He was also a member of the Odd Fellows, serving as past Grand Noble at Wawayanda Lodge #34 and past District Grand Marshal of Orange County.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Quackenbush of Grantham, N.H.; his children: Michael H. Quackenbush (Donna) of Selden; Sharon M. Quackenbush of Lebanon, N.H.; Bruce C. Quackenbush of Denver, Co.; Anne F. Cusolito (John) of Reading, Mass.; Patricia M. Quackenbush of Cumming, Ga.; and Susan E. Quackenbush of Alpharetta, Ga. He is also survived by five grandchildren, three nephews and one niece.
He was predeceased by his sister, Ethel M. (Quackenbush) Wadeson.
Graveside services took place Nov. 18 at Warwick Cemetery.
