Gloria Liantonio
Gloria Liantonio passed away on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at home in Warwick. She was 92 years old.
Born in Brooklyn on June 22, 1925, to the Adolf and Lillie (Schoetzel) Schultz, she raised her children in Brooklyn and then Belle Harbor (Queens), New York. She retired to Tequesta, Florida, before moving to Warwick, New York.
Her kindness, positive outlook and strength of spirit are what will be remembered most by those who knew and loved her.
She was married to the late Joseph Liantonio for 60 years and is survived by four daughters: Carole Liantonio of Warwick, Elizabeth Walsh and her husband Ed Walsh of Jupiter, Florida, Joanne Liantonio and her husband John Petrich of La Conner, Washington, and MaryAnne Kora of Boynton Beach, Florida; nine grandchildren: George, Joseph, Edward, Michael, Marcus, Paul, Matthew, MaryKate and Elizabeth; four great-grandchildren: Eddie, Micaela, John and Brody; plus many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
While family was her top priority, Gloria lived her life to the fullest. A passionate student, her natural aptitude for science led to her working as a lab technician at Unity Hospital in Brooklyn.
In her youth she loved playing baseball and basketball and always enjoyed watching a good game.
Her stock market savvy was second only to her uncanny card playing prowess.
She was involved in the community as a Girl Scout leader for many years, organized Church activities, and volunteered with the American Cancer Society and Parkinson’s Disease support groups.
The memory of her warmth, her wit and her strength will continue to bring joy and comfort to those who loved her.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Church, Warwick.
In lieu of flowers, please celebrate Gloria’s life by sharing an ice cream sundae with someone you love.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lazear-Smith and Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Warwick. For further information or to send condolences, see www.lsvpmemorialhome.com.
