George Robinson
George Robinson, a resident of Warwick for 56 years, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, in Norristown, Pa. He was 88 years old.
Born on Oct. 10, 1929, in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of Stanley and Thomasina (Smith) Robinson.
He was the widower of Audrey (Dickey) Robinson (2010).
George was a member of the Naval Reserves. He was a graduate of Morris Brown Teachers College and received his Master’s degree from Columbia University.
He was a school teacher with both the Middletown and Monroe-Woodbury school systems and was a football coach.
In 2004, George was awarded the Regina G. Black “Humanitarian of the Year Award” from the Orange County Association for Help of Retarded Citizens.
He was instrumental in the development of the AHRC and served in many capacities in its development over the years, serving on the Board of Governors.
He was passionate about making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
He was a member of the Warwick Reformed Church, where he served on the consistory and taught adult Sunday School.
He is survived by his daughter, Jill Terry of Norristown, Pa.; grandson William Robert Terry III of Philadelphia, Pa., and grandson Matthew Robinson Terry of Sale Lake City, Utah; and great-grandson Ashir Terry and great-granddaughter Sanaya; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister Verdell.
Graveside service and interment was in Rosemont Memorial Park in Elizabeth, N.J., on May 22.
