Francis 'Buddy' Ryan

    With his loving family at his bedside, Francis J. “Buddy” Ryan of Warwick passed away on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick. He was 86.
    The son of Ambros and Margaret Scanlon Ryan, Buddy was born on July 21, 1931, in Teaneck, N.J.
    He proudly served both his country and his community as a Naval veteran and retired lieutenant of the Englewood, N.J., Fire Department.
    Buddy was parted from his beloved wife Ellen T. Ryan on March 7, 2010, but is now reunited to celebrate their wedding anniversary on Sept. 6.
    His family's statement reads: “Buddy was the greatest husband, dad, “Poppy,” brother and friend that anyone could ask for. He was a master carpenter who always said he could fix anything but 'broken hearts.' Our hearts are broken and we will miss him dearly.”
    Buddy is survived by his daughters: Colleen McIntyre and her husband John of Key West, Fla., Terry Hurley and her husband Jimmy of Warwick and Lisa Ryan-Grady and her husband Dennis of Warwick; sisters: Winnie, Janet and Mary; his grandchildren: Casey (Andrew), Jane (Oliver), Kaitlyn (Michael), James (Kayla), Mikey, Samantha (Brian), Patrick (Courtney) and Rory; as well as his great granddaughter Ellie. Survivors further include his good friend Paul as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Along with his wife and parents, Buddy was pre-deceased by his sister Margaret.
    A Funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 30 at St. Stephen R.C. Church in Warwick. Full Naval honors took place immediately following Mass.
    The family wishes to extend their deepest thanks to the Warwick Ambulance Corps as well as the staff at St. Anthony Community Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Buddy.
