Ellen J. Knieriemen
Ellen J. Knieriemen, a longtime resident of Warwick, passed away at Schervier Pavilion on Saturday, June 9, 2018. She was 88 years old.
Born in Brooklyn on July 24, 1929, she was the daughters of Paul and Lena “Dilgen” Gallagher.
Ellen was the widow of Fridolin Knieriemen.
She was a member of St. Stephen RC Church, as well as a member of the Catholic Daughters, Court St. Anne, St. Stephen Sodality and St. Stephen Altar Society.
Ellen was retired after working many years in the Warwick Valley School District, first as a library clerk and later an administrative clerk in the Warwick Valley High School Office.
She was an active participant in the community as a member of the Warwick Valley Country Club and in the Friends of the Library Ladies Bridge Club. She also belonged to the Warwick Seniors Club.
Survivors include son Eric and wife Mary and granddaughter Elia Lin of Edenville; daughter Ellen Gioia and husband James and granddaughters Christina Gioia Rossel, her husband Jeffery, their son Jeffery James, and Rachel Gioia both of New Milford, Conn.; and daughter, Allison Barrera and husband Andrew of Wantagh.
Visitation was held June 12 at Lazear Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home on Warwick.
A Funeral Mass and interment will be private.
