Edward (Moon) Mullins Sr., formally of South Blooming Grove, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow. He was 82 years old.
Edward was born March 13, 1941, in the Bronx, the son of Joseph and Lillian Mullins.
Edward served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963 on the USS Ethan Allen, and earned his good conduct medal.
He went on to work at Con Edison as a machinist for many years in the Bronx before retiring.
He was a former member of The South Blooming Grove Fire Department, Joseph Duelk Jr. Ancient Order of Hibernians, division 1, Orange County as well as the Newburgh Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife Linda and his children: Janice Oppman, Edward Mullins Jr., Charles Mullins, and Daniel Mullins and wife Pamela. He also leaves lovingly behind his Grandchildren Jason Oppman, Madison Mullins, Matthew Mullins and Jillian Mullins; as well as great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and lots extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Lillian Mullins and siblings Joseph Mullins, Thomas Mullins, Dorothy Heath and James Mullins.
Visitation was held July 19 at Donovan Funeral Home, 82 S church St., Goshen. The funeral was held July 20 at the funeral home.
Burial with military honors followed in the Orange County Veteran’s Cemetery in Goshen.
