Edward M. Negersmith

Edward M. Negersmith of Chester, a retired manger of export control for Bayer Diagnostic in Tarrytown, entered into rest on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 73.

The son of Edward G. Negersmith and Dorothy Gallagher Negersmith, he was born Feb. 12, 1939, in Mount Vernon.

He was a past president of the Chester Ambulance Corps, where he implemented the first CPR program. He was also a charter member of St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Catholic Church and president of Oblast Memorials.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Lubomira Hill Negersmith; daughter Christina Kensell and her husband Timothy; sons Daniel and his wife Kelly, Stephen and his wife Gina, Mark and his wife Bethany and Paul and his wife Caroline; ten grandchildren: Chloe, Timothy and Andrew Kensell, Dakota, Desirae, Nicholas, Matthew, Alexander, Abigail and Olivia Negersmith; brother Kent Negersmith and his wife Colleen; sister Mary Wreden and her husband Walter; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 15, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 20 Glenmere Ave., Florida.

Burial will be in Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Campbell Hall.
