‘Dziadzie’ Edward J. Lepski Sr.
Edward J. Lepski Sr., a retired custodian for the Warwick Valley School District, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2013, at Valley View Rehabilitation Center in Goshen surrounded by his loving family. He was 92 years old.
He was born Sept. 7, 1920, in Throop, Pa., the son of Walter and Helen Ermel Lepski.
Edward was an avid New York Yankees fan and his greatest joys were spending time with family and enjoying holiday dinners. He had an astounding knowledge of history and trivia. His kind, loving and easygoing nature will be greatly missed.
He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star for meritorious and heroic service and the prestigious combat infantry badge.
After the war ended, he served as a translator for a colonel and a major in his regiment.
He was the proud and loving father to his daughter Rosemarie Zygmunt and her husband Gus, son Edward Lepski Jr. and his wife Suzanne and son Ronald Lepski and his wife Susan, and the mother of their children Sophie. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Jeffrey and Ryan Zygmunt, Jillian, Emily and Elizabeth Lepski and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Walter.
Funeral services were held April 29 at St. Stanislaus Church in Pine Island with the Rev. Joseph Tokarczyk.
Burial was in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
