Douglas K. Havel

Douglas K. Havell of Warwick (and formerly of Hewitt, N.J.) passed away Thursday July 12, 2018, at St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick. He was 73.
Douglas was born in Morristown, N.J., on June 2, 1946, to Robert E. and Muriel B. (nee Wiss) Havell.
Douglas was the owner of the former Ramsey Chrysler Plymouth in Mahwah, N.J., and later worked with his wife Mary at Mary Havell Motors in Newfoundland, N.J. He was considered a master mechanic.
He was a member of the American Power Boat Association and was a master carpenter as well as a builder and restorer of boats.
His family's statement reads: “His true love was Mary Havell.”
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Mary E. (nee Fitz Simmons) Havell of Warwick; three sons: Douglas Havell Jr. and his wife Susan, Jay Havell and Joey Havell and his wife Kimberly Joy. Also surviving are his sister Marsha Frances of New Hampshire; brother Robert Havell of Long Boat Key, Fla.; and five grandchildren: Isabella, Grant, Ellie, Madison and Van Havell.
He was predeceased by a sister, Pam Havell.
Funeral services were held July 17 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Warwick.
Interment followed in Warwick Cemetery.
