Donald E.P. Shaddock

Donald E.P. Shaddock of the Village of Florida passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, at home. He was 81.

The son of Elijah Shaddock and Mary Wisniewski, he was born July 9, 1931, in Goshen. He graduated from high schools in both Panama and S.S. Seward Institute in Florida

He worked nearly 40 years at Middletown Savings Bank, beginning as a teller and ending as assistant vice president and mortgage officer when he retired in 1993. He also worked evenings for 25 years at Orange County Community College, from where he graduated, as an assistant librarian.

He was attending Rider College in Trenton, N.J., when he was drafted and soon after served in the Korean War near the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone), attaining the rank of sergeant in the Army.

He is survived by nine first cousins, including John Szefc of Goshen, Richard Szefc of Westport, Conn., Gary Kline of Calabash, N.C., Karen Serrano of South Plainfield, N.J., Deborah Ranouin of Piscataway, N.J., Jeffrey Schadt of Pine Island, James Schadt of Troy, Phillip Schadt of Maybrook, Arlene Schadt of Tampa, Fla., and Gregory Schadt, as well as several other second cousins..

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 3, at 10:30 a.m., in St. John’s R.C. Church in Goshen.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in the Village of Florida.
