    Daniel F. Coleman of Florida, N.Y., a lifelong area resident, died on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016. He was 89.
    Son of the late Felix Kolman and Antoinette Karas Kolman, he was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Warwick, N.Y.
    He served in the US Navy Seabees during World War II, serving in Guam. He was a retired manager for Orange & Rockland Utilities and served as Town of Warwick Justice for 34 years and Village of Florida Justice for 36 years. He was a 66-year member, past-chief and past-president of the Florida Fire Department; member of the American Legion Post 1250, Florida, N.Y., and PLAV Post 16, Pine Island, N.Y.; member of the Seward Seniors, Warwick Valley Knights of Columbus, Board of Trustees of St. Anthony’s Hospital, Warwick, and Inspire, Goshen, N.Y.; president of the NYS Magistrates Association, where he was recipient of the Magistrate of the Year award in 2001; president of the Orange County Magistrates Association; recipient of the Orange County Bar Association Liberty Bell Award; Charter Member Orange County Industrial Development Agency; Orange County Peace Officers Association; Orange County Past Chief’s Association and the Sommerville Hunting Club, Chester, N.Y. He was also proud to have a private pilot’s license.
    Survivors include his wife, Barbara Coleman; son, Thomas Coleman (Bonnie), Fullerton, Calif.; son, Michael Coleman, Florida, N.Y.; son, Mark Coleman (Cynthia) Pine Bush, N.Y.; stepson, Bill Bloom (Melissa) Marietta, Ga.; stepdaughter, Susan English Goshen, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren, Matthew, Timothy, Michele, Makayla, Travis, Grace, Gavin and Addison Coleman, Molly and McKenzie English, Andrew and Billy Bloom, and Jordan and Madison Jarrett; sister, Dorothy Burroughs of Las Vegas, Nev., and Rose Malik of Manchester, N.J.
    He was predeceased by a son, Daniel F. Coleman Jr.; brothers, Leon, Joseph, Edward and John Coleman; sisters, Marion Sullivan, Anne Beaver, and Sophie Romer.
    Visitation was held Nov. 6 at Purta Funeral Home, Florida, N.Y. Firematic services were followed by Legion services.
    A funeral mass was held Nov. 7 at St. Joseph Church, Florida, N.Y.
    Burial of his cremains will be in Orange County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, N.Y.
