Carol A. Bartnowski

Carol A. Bartnowski, a long-time resident of Warwick, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at home.
Born Oct. 25, 1949, in Nutley, N.J., she was the daughter of Richard Van Anglen and Betty Garrison.
She was married to David Bartnowski of Warwick for nearly 45 years.
Carol was the owner of the Inkwell Office Supply in Warwick for 26 years before retiring.
She was one of the originators of Applefest in Warwick and, along with her daughter, started The Taste of Warwick.
She was a prior board member of the Warwick Valley Chamber.
For many years she was active in the preservation and vitality of Main Street in the Village of Warwick.
She received the Athena Award given by General Motors to women in business for their contributions to their community. She sponsored Team Inkwell, which included friends and employees, seen at many of the fund raising events around the town either as volunteers or participants.
Carol sailed many miles to and around the Caribbean with her husband on their sailboat, Keep On Dancin', and continued to sail in Long Island Sound and just enjoyed their time on the boat.
She is survived by her husband, David, at home; her daughter Christine Barravecchia and her husband Jonathan of Warwick, two granddaughters, that were the love of her life, Quinn and Amelia; a sister, Jean Kirstein and her husband Ed, of Roxbury; and a brother, Ben Garrison and his wife Cathi of New Fairfield, Conn.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
