Barbara Morgiewicz
Barbara Poloniak Morgiewicz of Pine Island entered into rest on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at her home with her family by her side. She was 72.
She was married to the late Conrad S. Morgiewicz.
The daughter of Louis J. Sr. and Catherine Wierzbicki Poloniak she was born July 23, 1940, in Pine Island.
Barbara was a retired postmaster having served in Pine Island for more than 30 years, a member of St. Stanislaus Church, general chairwoman of St. Stanislaus 100th Anniversary Committee; past president of St. Stanislaus Living Rosary Society, Pine Island Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year 1992, president of Hudson Valley Polonaise Society, General Pulaski Memorial Committee, past member of the Pulaski Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Drowned Lands Historical Society, Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, Pine Island Seniors and Warwick Valley Garden Club.
She is survived by her two sons: Conrad Morgiewicz and his wife Cyndy of Groton Mass., and Louis Morgiewicz and his wife Joan of New Paltz; two daughters: Frances O’Hara and her husband KC of Medford Mass., and Susan Giza and her husband Joseph of Wurtsboro; 10 grandchildren: Brittany Morgiewicz; Colin, Brogan and Grace O’Hara; Jennifer and Heather Giza; Loujack, Celina, Adelaine and Catarina Morgiewicz; brothers Louis Poloniak and Dolores and Vincent Poloniak and his wife Joan; sisters Connie Gurda and her husband George, Joan Sullivan and her husband Raymond, and Bernice Poloniak; brothers-in-law Floyd Morley and his wife Evelyn and Vincent Morgiewicz and his wife Sophia; sisters-in-law Dolores and her husband Leon Piasecki and Isabelle and her husband Stanley Dudlo; many nieces and nephews and dear family friend Sister Mary Norberta.
She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law, Daniel J. Morgiewicz, retired Captain U.S. Navy, and Daniel’s wife, Margaret Quinn Morgiewicz; sister-in-law Virginia Poloniak; and her Godmother Clara Pierce.
A funeral Mass was held April 17 at St. Stanislaus Church in Pine Island.
