Artemas L. Beattie Sr.

Artemas L. Beattie Sr., a life-long resident of Greenwood Lake, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at home. He was 85 years old.
He was married to Edna Mae Hart, who passed away July 28, 1993.
The son of Artemas S. and Marianna Pasquale Beattie and the adopted son of Artemas L. and Julia Sheridan Beattie, he was born March 24, 1927, in Newark, N.J.
He was retired from the United State Air Force, was a former lieutenant in the Greenwood Lake Police Department, a New York State-licensed private investigator and was the owner of A B Security, Inc.
He served in the USAAF and the USAF in World War II and the Korean War.
He was a member of the Rockland County Police Chiefs Association and was a communicant of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Survivors include his son Artemas L. Beattie Jr. and his wife Alison of Greenwood Lake; his daughters Stacy A. and her husband Robert Turner of Suffern and Susan E. Beattie of Warwick; five grandchildren: Christine, Ryan, Sean, Jesse Mae and Sarah.
He was predeceased by his son Thomas William, who passed away in 1977.
Funeral services were held Oct. 9 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Warwick, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
