    Antoinette A. Scherman of Stony Point entered into rest on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at her home. She was 98.
    Antoinette worked in civil defense during World War II and after the war she worked as a cook until her retirement at Letchworth Village Developmental Center in Theills.
    She lived a simple life. She loved her family, drawing, collecting memorabilia, gardening, knitting and singing and she was proud of her Polish heritage.
    She was a very faithful person who was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point.
    The daughter of Anton and Anastasia Niski Brozycki, she was born on Dec. 13, 1918, in Pine Island on the family onion farm where she grew up.
    Antoinette was predeceased by her husband George Scherman in 1980.
    She is survived by her son Henry Scherman, her sister Loretta Albanese of Sarasota, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.
    She was predeceased by her sisters Stella, Helen and Elizabeth and brother Frank.
    Memorial visitation will be held 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida.
    A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, at St. Joseph's Church, 20 Glenmere Ave., Florida.
    Burial of her ashes will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
    Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the T.S. Purta Funeral Home.
