Anna Turano Neville
Anna Neville passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at the Weils Rehabilitation Center in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, at the age of 88.
Anna was the daughter of Vincenzo and Vincenzina Turano. She was born November 30, 1924, in Sunnyside, Queens and was the widow of Leo Neville.
Anna was always known to her friends as Ann and her mother affectionately called her “Annie!”
Ann is survived by her three daughters and their families: Nancy Neville of Beachwood, Ohio, Patricia DaBenigno and her husband Robert of Highland Mills and Karen Rhein and her husband Glenn of Warwick; two grandchildren: Katie Jane Bendykowski and her husband Mike of Nyack and Gregory Paul of Warwick; and one great-grandchild, Austen of Staten Island.
Ann was predeceased by her sisters Sadie Gullo and Millie Sefcik of Long Island.
Ann was a member of the Jolly Seniors of Monroe for many years before moving to Ohio to be with her daughter, Nancy. She held the office of treasurer for the club and prided herself on efficiently keeping their records during her tenure.
Ann loved to dance with Leo and often travelled to New York City to attend plays, operas and ballets with the Jolly Seniors and her family. She greatly enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader and knitter. Her mother, Vincenzina, passed on her passion and skill for sewing to her.
Ann’s cremains were brought to New York for her Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church in Monroe on Jan. 12. Burial was at St. Anastasia Cemetery in Harriman.
