Ann C. Briscese

Ann C. Briscese of Warwick passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. She was 88 years old.

Born on Oct. 15, 1932, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Philip and Theresa (Gatto) Schiera.

Ann worked in Manhattan at a young age for a company formerly known as Scantlin Electronics (now Dow Jones), providing the New York and Chicago commodity markets with bid and ask prices.

In 1970 she, her husband and son moved to Warwick.

In 1973 she took a job in the Accounts Payable Department working for Big V Shop Rite in Florida, N.Y., from which she retired.

She was a member of St. Stephen’s R.C. Church and the Warwick Senior Citizens Club.

Her family’s statement reads: “Ann devoted her life to caring for others, and she loved and worried about her family and friends. During her retirement days, she provided personal daily care for her sister and brother as well as for her best friend. She was also part of a program that would call other seniors ‘stuck at home’ on a weekly basis. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.”

Ann is survived by her son James Briscese and his partner Mary E. Wynne of Fort Pierce, Florida; her granddaughters Christina Wynn and her husband John Wynn of Newburgh and Diane Briscese and her partner Tom McClure of Pine Bush; by her great grandchildren: Laney Travers, RN, Brandon Wynn, Makayla Wynn and Dylan Marberger. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews, many great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband James “Jimmy” Briscese and her five siblings: sisters C. Mildred Conti, Mary Schiera and Geraldine Schiera and her two brothers Joseph and Salvatore Schiera, as well as her best friend Katherine “Kay” Pluta of Florida, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 29 at St. Stephen’s R.C. Church. Interment followed in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
