NEW WINDSOR — A New York organic foods company plans to open a new facility in the Hudson Valley and create 120 jobs, half of them to be filled by veterans. Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office says Continental Organics will open a farm in the Orange County town of New Windsor, 55 miles north of New York City. The company's Web site says it's a veteran-owned business specializing in organic produce, fish and fertilizer. Continental Organics uses method known as "aquaponics" to grow organic produce indoors in a nutrient rich solution, rather than soil. Cuomo said the state provided more than $6 million in incentives from the Empire State Development Corp. to the company, which plans to invest nearly $50 million toward a five-year project, including a 900,000-square-foot indoor operation in New Windsor.
