Area students continue to excel at their colleges and universities. Here’s a rundown of some of the more recent accomplishments: Jennifer L. Motyka of Monroe was among 507 students who received degrees from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania at recent commencement exercises. She received a bachelor of science degree in psychology. The following students graduated from the University at Albany in January: Theresa Rivera of Harriman, magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in art. Aileen Behringer of Monroe, with a bachelor’s degree in information science. Phillip Lucien of Central Valley, with a master’s degree in counseling. The following students recently graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton: Sanjay Raveendranath of Monroe, with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences. Amit Sinha of Monroe, with a bachelor’s degree in economics. The following residents graduated from SUNY New Paltz during the December commencement exercises: Ryan Adler, Monroe, received a BA in journalism. Peter Weber, Monroe, received a BS in electrical engineering. Alyson Garcia, Monroe, received a BS in management. Anthony Diblasi, Monroe, received a BA in communication media. Elizabeth Manko, Monroe, received a BA in journalism. Melissa Silipo, Monroe, received a BS in childhood education 1-6. John Cannizzaro, Monroe, received a BA in psychology. Kristen Borthwick, Highland Mills, received a BS in communication media. Anthony Zollo, Monroe, received a CAS in educational administration. Vincent Biele, Monroe, received a CAS in school leadership. Jennifer Fusik, Monroe, received a MSED in special ed: childhood ed. Kira Lamarre Herbert, Highland Mills, received a CAS in educational administration. Lynette Holmes, Central Valley, received a MSED in literacy education: B-6. Michaela Callaghan, Highland Mills, received a MAT in English. Miriam Arocho of Highland Mills has been granted a certificate for successfully completing the course of study in professional photography offered by the New York Institute of Photography in New York City. Stephanie M. Campion of Monroe was named to the dean’s list at the University of New Haven for the fall 2007 semester. Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible. Robert Toste, the son of Audrey Toste-Clarke of Highland Mills, is a member of the 2007-08 Hamilton College men’s basketball team. Toste, a graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School, is a senior majoring in government. Kelly Gillan of Monroe was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2007 semester at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh and was invited to participate in the college’s Academic Investiture on Feb. 23. She achieved an index of 3.72. Justine Humphrey, the daughter of Donald and Diane Humphrey of Monroe, has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2007 semester at Sacred Heart University. She is majoring in psychology with plans to be additionally certified for secondary education. The following local residents were named to the president’s lists and the dean’s list at SUNY Cortland for the fall 2007 semester.
