Navy recruits complete basic

Monroe — Navy Seaman Recruits Celisha A. Santiago and Bryan C. Coroban recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. During the eight-week program, they completed a variety of training, which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, fire fighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness. Santiago, the daughter of Miriam and Edwin Santiago of Monroe, and Coroban are fellow 2005 graduates of Monroe-Woodbury High School in Central Valley.
